    Those images are two great examples of how you can make marvelous images even when the light is harsh. In this case, it was done by recognizing the limitations of the light and positioning the camera and subject relative to the light source in perhaps the best possible place.

    Thanks Mike. I also used the pop up flash to fill the shadows as best I could. I don't have much experience doing portraits so I was happy how these turned out. I little luck certainly helps.....along with Lightroom

    Love the attitude and nice captures , over coming some light issues very well. pic 2 seems somewhat washed out a little.

    Nicely captured study. Lighting has been well handled with the use of fill in flash. only thought is will the highlights in the flower pull back a bit.

    John and Raymond, thank you for your comments. I've shied away from taking close up portraits because it can be so difficult, at least for me.

    Raymond, I have darkened the second image just a little and lighten the eyes.
    John, I haven't had any luck pulling out detail in the flower. I darkened it a little here but not sure what else would work.
