I was quite disappointed when a a heavy rain and windstorm came through several weeks ago and flattened a lot of the the local cereal crops. I had been waiting for the crop to ripen to get some shots of the standing crop and the lodged (the name for the flattening) fields just look unattractive to me with the irregular weird areas.
When walking around I suddenly realized that any stems on the edges would be isolated so I could get images of the heads alone. This small hill with the barn seemed the optimal spot for this sort of thing. Had to get quite low to shoot the image.
Did the first one in the early morning, the light was coming in from the right and not fully optimal so I went back just after noon. Could not use the same spot for the second image as that row of wheat was in shadow by then. Elected for a clump further into the field that let me use the barn with two sides in light, my preferred angle for old buildings anyway.
