Never heard it put like that Matt but I think you have got it spot on. Nice image as well. Good use of lead lines and the eye is finally drawn to the building on the horizon.

You mentioned, "I've never been on a cruise ship unfortunately!"
Some folks like cruise ships but, I didn't enjoy the one cruise that I went on (to the Greek Islands).
In fact, I'd rather go to the dentist for a root canal than go on another cruise!

I love cruises. I go on one at least once a year but I am not fond of the bigger cruise lines and generally limit myself to Silver Seas. What I see in the scene above is akin to being on a cattle car.
Eating ice cream with a coat on is like what I experienced yesterday driving with the sun visor down to avoid being blinded by the sun in a heavy downpour. Ice cream is good anytime and in any weather.
