Lovely, I like the less contrasty look of the image as it conveys the feeling of innocence I'm not sure about the composition though as there is no anchor point for the hand and it seems floating in whiteness , may be it would look better if you showed some of her arm or cropped the image from the top to eliminate the white empty part and some of the lace , then you wouldn't need to show the arm

    Hi Jean,

Firstly; a warm welcome to the CiC forums from me, as I don't think I have responded to one of your previous 40 posts

I agree with Binnur's crop suggestion.

My upper most observation is how (how shall I say this) 'glisteny' her hand is.

If I were to guess, I'd say this was shot with a small flash tube as the predominant light source.
I wonder, not having enough practical experience myself yet, whether a larger area (more diffuse) light source would have reduced the specular nature of the reflections which (I think) is the cause of much of the problem. In this instance, I wouldn't use the flash bare, I'd add a small softbox, even a 20 x 15cm at this close range should help.

I see from the EXIF data that it was shot with a 105mm lens on a D800E.

I'll be interested to hear, from yourself and/or CiC members with more experience, whether my thoughts have any validity.

    All the best, Dave

Thank you Binnur's and Dave for your comments.
For Dave, as you can imagine it was during a wedding, more precisely, during prepara tion of the bride, when you have to take picture everywhere (so with a flash on the camera to be ready for everything could happen)
I reworked from my original and arrived at this point (to avoid glitter aspect and new crop).

Hindsight being what it is, I would have liked more DOF to bring the thumb into focus.
