Modern Stonehenge
Saw this along a highway construction site. The columns are marked in five foot increments showing the depth each has been driven or vibrated in to the ground. C & C always.

These are "piles" and are hammered into the ground by a "piledriver". They are used as a foundation for a structure. As this is for a highway, it wouldn't surprise me if these were going to be used to support a bridge or overpass.
