Out of Chaos, There Often Comes Calm
I lost a good shooting buddy to a tragic bicycle accident yesterday and in a sort of homage to him, I shot this scene this morning. Ray had a way of picking out the calm in the storm.

Very sorry to hear that Chris,
I find the image very thought provoking; how the tip of the wave is reaching to meet the tip of the shadow cast by the dune ridge.

That is a well seen and executed shot. I'm sad to hear of your friend's accident. Of course I don't know him, but I feel he'd be touched by your tribute.

The patterns are exceptionally well seen. It would also work very well as a monochrome, especially if your friend enjoyed making monochromes.

Re: Out of Chaos, There Often Comes Calm
Well done sorry about your friend... Unfortunately, this area is experiencing quite a few bicycle accidents lately, in addition to the always prevalent motorcycle accidents, that is...

Re: Out of Chaos, There Often Comes Calm
I am sad for his family and sad that I will no longer be able to share photo "stuff" with him, but life is full of unexpected twists and turns and he knew that as well or better than anyone. He's fine where he is knowing it's just a just pop in time before he's reunited with everyone. Ray's philosophy was to shoot what everyone else passes by. It's a good thing and I will endeavor to include more of that in the future.
This was a selfie on his first official day of retirement, less than a month ago after 40 years in the classroom. I did a composite of an image from a place where we both loved to shoot sunrises.
