I like the subject, John. On my monitor, part of the gate is getting lost in the background (just below the chain).
Really nice John. I've made several photos of locks and none of them are as nice as this one. I'm not noticing the issue Greg mentioned on my calibrated monitor. My only suggestion is that I would like to see more on the right side, as the "point" that acts as leading lines pointing toward the subject would be more effective in my mind if it wasn't exactly at the edge of the frame.
Nice tones and plenty of detail. Good stuff.

I like it a lot John, nice image and PP![]()
Well seen, captured and processed.
This is not excellent; this is excellence![]()
Thanks all for the comments.
Greg, I have spotted what you mean (Mike, just below the RH end of the chain where the post edge meets the grass). Just an accident of tonality really. Probably magnified by the processing.
Mike, I know what you mean but I arrived at the final crop by trial and error. The natural thing is to "leave more room" on the RHS but when I originally did that it seemed (to me) that the comp split into two halves, presumably because of the added weight on that side. I finally arrived at this version which looked better. Just me perhaps.
very nice, dimension, well spotted.
A productive walk
