Helpful Posts: Hope to get up to FanExpo next weekend, as I do not usually use flash I thought that I should practice, so I went to where I knew there would be some of those photobombing Sunflowers. So they let me practice on them, not really sure of what I am doing but practice will make somewhat prefect.

I suspect they would have looked more interesting with off-camera back lighting.
I haven't tried that technique with sunflowers (yet), but suspect the results would be interesting.

Well there should be a purpose for using flash, if the shot needed it then you'd notice the difference. Did you shoot any without flash and if so were you happy with the results?

I think your goal was 'to take a shot underexposed for the sky and brighten the flowers with your flash'. I think that technique works better in vast landscape shots and the sky is usually more underexposed than the one in your image.Your images look nice and I prefer the second image compositionally.
