    The Unknown Sandpiper

    The Unknown Sandpiper
    Pose 1

    The Unknown Sandpiper
    Pose 2

I am guessing that this a Pectoral Sandpiper, but I am open for debate.

I prefer the first pose, but I really do not understand why......maybe it is due to the triangular quality of the composition. Maybe some one can tell me why.

It is because the position of the bird and its reflection looks better in the first image

There is a similar triangle in the 2nd. I think the first is possibly more appealing because it shows some action - water rippling away from the bird's beak. I think the shot would be improved if you removed that thing in the water above its back.

Yes, it is because of an activity of the bird in the first shot; the other one , may one say, is prosaic

The first one is my pick of the two. Like the movement of the water.

Both very good. #1 is more interesting, but if I were hanging it, say, I think #2 would work better.

Pretty sure you called it right as a pectoral sandpiper.

Thanks for the affirmation, these 'peeps' are a dickens for me.
