    Why-good-photographers-take-bad-photos

Found this on one of the dedicated Fuji sites but it applies across the board. It's all been said before on here from time to time but this article encapsulates the many discussions in an easy to read succinct way. Worth a read.

Good or bad is not the same as interesting or boring. Even in CinC mini competitions you find very "good" photographs not doing as well as a not so good but very interesting photographs.

Great Article - I really like the last quote from Jim Richardson “If you want to be a better photographer, stand in front of more interesting stuff.”

Thanks for posting. Interesting. This is one thing that makes macro photography appealing. A nice flower or bug looks just as interesting if captured next to a suburban garage as if shot in the wilderness.

When people compliment me on my images, I tell them the secret to being a good photographer. Don't show people the 999 crappy photos you have taken recently.

I used to tell my wife that I needed a new guitar because the old ones ran out of interesting songs. I wonder if that will work with camera gear?!

Haha, Jim plays guitar because Jim can't sing.

Come to think of it, Jim takes picture because Jim can't draw.

That should be 9,999 for me!

(and arguably 99,999, if you look through all I have taken since starting digital seriously back in 2007)

Trevor, I totally agree with your comment. However, being a "good" photographer is recognizing that those 999 photos are crappy and not showing them.

Mostly, one man's good is another man's dross. It's all in the eye of the beholder. The Turner Portrait Prize comes to mind......

Here's a bad shot I almost deleted but did something cool with using heavy post-processing. It's a fully zoomed in view taken at the beach.

    Re: Why-good-photographers-take-bad-photos

Some people who see a bad photo think it was taken by a poor photographer, but when they see a good photograph they think it was taken by a good camera.

    Cheers.
