Using telescopes along with DSLR for terrestrial uses
Hello, I'm Dave... new to the interesting world of DSLR photography !
I want to know how feasible it is to use a telescope along with DSLR for terrestrial purposes, much like using tele zoom lenses..
I currently do not own a DSLR, but am thinking about getting myself a Canon 40D..
Thnx 4 your patient reading.....
Advice welcome...

Re: Using telescopes along with DSLR for terrestrial uses
Absolutely. There are a number of telescopes which permit mounting a DSLR camera to the back to capture the image. A quick search on Amazon, for example, shows a Phoenix 650-1300mm f/8-16 Telephoto Lens with Mount for Canon EOS Digital & Film. This runs about $250, but there's much more sophisticated options as well. Depending on your intended use, you would likely need to use a star tracker to keep the images still over the course of the exposure.

The high magnification of a telescope means that a very sturdy tripod is necessary.

You don't say if you are using an astronomical or terrestrial telescope.
There are certainly adaptors for terrestrial scopes, and I presume for astronomical ones -- try a Google.
But if you are going to use an astronomical scope on earth, remember that the view is upsidedown.

Re: Using telescopes along with DSLR for terrestrial uses
Thnx a lot for the valuable suggestions...
Nice to know there are telescopes that are specifically compatible with Canon EOS systems...
N yeah ! I was talking about using a terrestrial telescope... I have seen some refracting telescopes known as "astro-Terrestrial telescopes"...
So I presume, it can be used both for astronomy and terestrial purposes...
Are there any members who are actually using telescopes along with DSLRs..
I would like to know more about any technical challenges like, focussing, image quality issues... etc..
Thnx again for all your replies..
hv a nice day...
