    Holly in the morning

I looked out my kitchen window and saw Holly, my Goldendoodle sitting in the yard and surveying her territory. I liked the various shades of tan, broken a bit by the plants, in the diffuse light of early morning. I wish that I had my flash on the camera because Holly's eyes are deep set and flash adds catchlights. However, it was a choice of these images or no images at all. I shot these, then went for the flash. When I returned she was gone and wandering around other spots in her yard.

Such a pretty girl! Always nice to view your images. The picture is rather monochromatic, but I like it that way. I think there is good separation between foreground and background that allows me to concentrate Holly and her lovely image and fur.

You could probably correct the eyes with NIK Viveza tool. Nicely composed images.

Thanks Marie... The monochromatic look is what caught my attention. I shot this at f/4 using 150 to 170mm or so as my focal lengths with my 70-200mm f/4L IS Lens on a Canon 5DII

Cool! I have been out of the loop. You traded in the 7d?

Actually, I still own the 7D as well as a 7DII plus the 5DII which I purchased used. When I finally decide which cameras will be in my permanent kit, I will sell some of them. I am not at all sure what cameras I want.

I picked up the 5DII used in almost new shape because in the shooting area where I do the portraits of my dogs, I don't really have enough room to work efficiently with my 70-200mm f/4L IS lens as well as a crop format camera. The full frame sensor allows me to shoot from a bit shorter distance but, still cover the entire dog. I also wanted to try out a full frame camera and the price was right

I have to do some testing because the results I have been getting recently using the 7DII are not really pleasing me. I have to shoot with the three cameras in the same situation, with the same lens and of the same dog to see if my worries have any basis or if they are just operator error.
