I like those old advertisements, the ads sometimes last longer than the business. Nicely framed.
sky is washed out? Do you have any information to recover?
Excellent shot; my feeling is that the white part on the right bottom part is a bit of distrction to the main body
Hi Sam,
I was puzzled by the thread title, since the largest, most easily read text seems to be "HARDW"(ARE)? - looks like a bit of the structure is no more. That said, I think I can now make out "Myers & Gilkeson" on the front.
I also wondered whether the text was coloured and if a different conversion might make more of it readable, however, that's just me being nosey and wouldn't really enhance the image photogenically.
You can blame Bruce (Digital) for this; I am wondering what the building looked like in its heyday?
OK, now this is daft (have I nothing better to do?); I searched on "Myers & Gilkeson" and found this, which I assume relates, but contains no photos, only a couple of plans/maps at the end
I like the sky washed out in this one because of the feeling it helped establish.
Thanks Nandakumar, I many practicing conversion to monochrome, I agree the composition is not the best.
Hi Sam IMO the conversion is good but the image is not that good. So, may be it is a good idea to try other images for a B&W conversion. Which software do you use for your conversions? If you have Nik Software, SEP2 makes wonders ,with that software it is possible to apply some filters like blue, yellow etc. which were used before digital age and it is really worth spending time for conversions with SEP2.
