Antwerp
The Giant Hand of Antwerp - Silvius Brabo (mythical Roman soldier) killed a giant, called Druon Antigoon, who asked money from people who wanted to pass the bridge over the river Scheldt. When they didn't want to or couldn't pay, he cut off their hand and threw it in the river. This legend is the origin of the name Antwerp: Antwerpen, from Dutch hand werpen—akin to Old English hand and wearpan (= to throw), that has changed to today's warp.
MAS – Museum Aan de Stroom. The white specs in the center of each of the facing stones is actually a hand

Re: Antwerp
Very nice shots and background story. I guess that in Antwerp you don't offer to "give a hand" to someone 🤔

Re: Antwerp
Now that (#2) is what I call architecture!
Good shot.
#1 - I'd like to have wandered around with my 10-24mm UWA lens on to see if there was a better viewpoint and perspective to be had.

Re: Antwerp
Both photos are very interesting. Great texture in the first one and color in the second one. Too bad the store behind the sculpture of the hand isn't a specialty store selling gloves.

Re: Antwerp
By coincidence, I have seen that building and that is a good picture of it.
We had a day trip to Antwerp a few years ago. My wife went to the tourist information centre at the railway station and asked where we might find modern architecture, a slightly perverse request in an old city like that. We were directed to that building.
