Re: Lessons learned from nature
Hi Gary,
A series with a nice set of clean backgrounds.
Not a lot to say by way of critique, but a few thoughts crossed my mind ...
#1 These are always difficult to handle the dark feathers and retain detail, but you have.
#2 Perhaps a touch under exposed?
#3 I'd have cropped (or framed) ideally to have just a little less space behind, than in front, of the subject.
Did you spot heal any bubbles, or other detritus, floating on the water?
I ask because I usually have to with a shot like this.
#4 Another tricky exposure well handled.
HTH, Dave

Gary, nice series of images and the reasoning behind the shots.

Re: Lessons learned from nature
Thanks to all, for your comments.
Dave in respect to#2, in LR I moved the exposure slider up 0.36 and there is marked improvement.
#3 it is a framing problem, I only cropped a little on the L/H side. I only had to spot heal one unsightly root just under the water in front of the Coot.
That particular pond has a lot of detritus in certain areas, mainly where the smaller wild fowl inhabit.
