    Two Feathers for C&C

    Hi, trying something new and would like some feedback please or suggestions to make it better.
    I use a Godox AD360 from the right.
    Canon 6D
    90m Macro lens.
    Thanks for looking.
    Russ.

    I like the first as well, the yellow at the base is interesting yet distracting.

    Difficult to C&C helpfully without knowing the camera EXIF and flash data Russ,

    Simple observation leads me to say;

    There would seem to be lost data in the shadows of the first, perhaps a reflector (sheet of paper) could have been used?
    Agree with John that the blown bit lower left corner of first is a distraction.

    Both lack DoF.

    I don't know if you rotated these after capture, but to my eyes, the direction of light doesn't match your description of "from the right" as the main source.

    + 1
    and, for me, flash too present left corner on # 1 and insufficient flash coverage on # 2..... but they don't fly away, you can redo the pictures
