Giant Mushroom
Looking a bit the worse for wear although still a lot better than those nearby which were definitely past their best.
Growing among nettles so I had to clear a bit of undergrowth to take a snap for identification. Measuring 300 mm across, this is Leucopaxillus giganteus.

Re: Giant Mushroom
Impossible to completely clear the background foliage, some of which had become entangled with the fungus as it grew. So really just an identification shot.
You wait a lifetime to see something like this then the next day at a different site 10 miles away . . .
Still looking a bit mucky I'm afraid, and I have cleared some of the debris but other stuff has grown into the surface.

Re: Giant Mushroom
Thanks for the replies. I did shoot some more modest species as well but haven't edited and identified them yet.
Probably nearly time to start a general fungi thread encourage anybody to post their images. Maybe sometime next week?
