    Nevada/Virginia City Montana

I was visiting my daughter in Bozeman, Montana earlier this week and after a day of fishing and bird hunting we took a road trip to a couple of abandoned old western towns about an hour from Bozeman. There are a lot of cool old buildings and shops there.

This was taken from the entrance of a little shop. There was not a lot of room to move about so this was the best shot I could get. I would have liked to move further back to get the whole painting on the wall but it was roped off.

Nice, Paul. I've always been a sucker for selective colorization.

    Randy and John,

Thanks for the good words. This has been a busy week. We visited our daughter in Bozeman and are now in Sheridan working on the house we are building. Sunday it is off to Livingston, Montana for a few days of R&R. Wednesday it is back to the Twin Cities and the grind.

The weather spoiled my photography plans for today. I had planned on going to a "graveyard" for old tractors and farm implements but it is raining and windy here. A good day to lay low and take an afternoon nap.

The selective colorization mode in the Fujifilm XT-1 is a pretty cool feature. I'll take any tips on when and how to use it.

Very nice set Paul IMO the blue color on the windows in #2 is a bit too strong, I would desaturate it a bit .

A few parting shots. We stayed at the Mission Ranch for three nights where we had a wonderful time doing very little. We left Montana Wednesday for the Twin Cities.

Here's the Sunday night dinner crowd. Left to right, Katie, James, Adam, Jenny, Susan and Paul. Katie and James are friends of Jenny (my daughter) and Adam (her husband.) They were visiting them in Bozeman.

The next three weeks will be busy for us. My work schedule is busy and we're moving into a townhouse. We were fortunate to sell our house in a painfully slow Twin Cities real estate environment. We'll be in a townhouse for the next two years.

Next month it is off to Grand Marais, Minnesota on the north shore for some fun. This is the only trip we take with the dogs as our male does not travel well.

    Nandakumar,

Thanks for the good words. The only negative of the trip was that our son was unable to join us due to work commitments.

Nice set, Paul. I am not a fan of selective colour but your second shot works for me.

(Not living in the US but having watched Big Bang Theory, I had assumed Bozeman was a fictitious place.)

Greg, Bozeman is a busy place. When we started visiting the western US 30 years ago it was a sleepy little town. Now, agriculture, technology, petroleum, tourism, skiing, fly fishing, you name it and it is there. East to west there was Bozeman, Belgrade and Manhattan. Now they have grown toward each other. It's a great place for young adults but I like Sheridan, Wyoming better. It is where Bozeman was 25 years ago. I'm spending my time between the Twin Cities and Sheridan until the end of 2018 when it will be time to hang it up.
