    Hi there Huzaiyed,

Welcome to the CiC forums from me, glad to have you join us.

I can't say I had heard of that model before, so I don't think we have. We do have other Sony shooters though and the basic principles of digital photography are common to all brands and models.

I just had a quick squizz at a review site and see it is a 14MP DSLR quite similar in other features to the Nikon D3000, which a lot of people here have, although that is only 10MP.

By all means ask any questions you like and we'll do our best.

    Best regards,

Yes it is a good choice, but I wouldn't say we outnumber Canon shooters (sadly).

Also there is nothing wrong with a Sony camera or lenses.

Glad you like the tutorials our site owner; Sean, writes.

    Cheers,

Hi, you're not the only Sony user, but we are definitely in a minority here.
While that does reduce the replies to Sony specific questions, the guys here are generally friendly and humour those who have failed to go the Canikon way

PS: I likewise joined because of the excellent tutorials, and pop by on occasion to lurk, and (even more) occasionally post.

One of the joys of this forum is that it is not haunted by those that think their brand or model is best, besides I doubt that you can buy a bad camera these days.
Concentrate on your photography and worry not. You'll get plenty of friendly help here, even if it is an issue with the camera, somebody will undoubtedly put you right.

Welcome to the other Canon forum.

Sony is just fine - they make the sensors for Nikon.

I have heard about Sony A290 but never seen & used.
My friend has got it and he recommended me to buy this one for me.
So now I am willing to get it soon.

    2 penny for the guess..

    Re: Sony A290.

Sony A200 was my first DSLR camera. With 18-75 standard kit lenses it's a beauty. Don't worry about "body brand", look for Carl Zeiss objectives. And above all... make thousands of pictures with the standard lenses before anything else.

Good advise there. I used my kit lens (18-70) for 2 years before stepping up. I think it also makes you appreciate that jump a little bit more.
