I say this is an art shot for me because I would always try to get everything in focus.
Oh yeah, they aren't bad either, and they make really nice subjects since they hold so still, mostly.
Hi Alan, although I applaud your creative initiative, your first shot does not work that well for me because my eye goes first to the OOF portion of the photo as it is brighter and more colourful. IMHO, the sharpness of the in-focus area cannot compete, because of the darkness of the vehicle, even with the reflections.
Interesting. The overall brightness of the foreground vehicle competes more successfully here, but I am not sure what your subject is. (I still struggle with this at times, so don't feel bad.) The sharpest bit seems to be the O in the lettering, but the lettering is not in a strong point of the composition and the overall depth of field is just too shallow. There are distractingly bright elements in all three images that could be brought down (de-emphasized) with selective editing.
