Week 40 I have a selection of scenes from Bucharest, this is the only one I could manage to copy and paste the tiny pic link using my iPad, I'll keep trying or borrow a laptop when I get a chance or get a lesson from someone younger with slender fingers.

Hi Lindsay,

I think this is an image that would benefit from the full weight of LR or ACR+PS (I see several issues I'd sort out that collectively would make a noticeable improvement), but I appreciate you are travelling and even if you have some mobile LR access, editing conditions are not likely to be ideal.

For those unfamiliar with what "Nikon V1" means (like me), here is the EXIF data:
Nikon V1 with 18.5mm f/1.8 lens, shot at f/11, 1/400s. ISO 400, Manual Exposure, equivalent focal length 49mm (at f/28).

Thanks Dave, I appreciate your comments and advice and thanks for showing the exif data for me, the iPad programs don't seem to show. Yes I think this is quite a good scene but does have some colour saturation funnies. Cheers Lindsay

Not just that, if mine I would rotate it, apply a lens profile correction to see if that fixes what looks like barrel distortion to me (but could just be the local geography) and investigate whether a modicum of 'perspective correction is worthwhile.

Also fix a little bit of CA (which could be what you mean by colour saturation funnies).

I might even try a gradient filter to bring down the exposure a tad in the distant sunlit areas.

It is though, a nice scene with good composition.

Lindsay, further to Dave's EXIF info, I've no idea what an Ipad can do but most web browsers on whatever machine allow a number of "extensions" to be added. I use both Opera and Firefox as browsers and both allow me to add an extension to view EXIF data. Like Dave, I can see your image's EXIF on my PC.
Oh, and P.S. nice image.

Thanks Dave for the technical advice, I see what you mean. I think I can do some of that just with the Snapseed software on my iPad otherwise I tackle it next week at home. Cheers....Lindsay

Thanks Joe, I have another think about Dave's observation about barrrel distortion and I think he is looking at the foreground building on the left that is in fact curved. I can see that he horizon is slightly curved and that is easily fixed.
Yes got right up onto the roof terrace, had to pay a bit extra. We were not allowed to look at the two Houses of Parliament, lower and upper house, unfortunatel, only the big public reception areas.

In Dubai for a stopover rest on way home to Perth. Went to the Dubai Mall and watched the Dubai Fountain and took a few pics. The fountain shots were not too great because of the bright lights. So here's a couple: # 1 looking up at a pedestrian bridge from the mall across to a souk where a lot of people gather every half hour for the fountain show. #2 Burj Khalifa, in between fountains and laser light shows, looking up from the promenade on the lake outside Dubai Mall.

I love that pic of the Burj Khalifa!.

Went off with my bushwalking club on Thursday and captured a few shots, this is meant to make up for weeks 42 and 43 as well as I am behind and just recovered from my jet lag.

The walk was on the Waterous Bike Trail, where Waterous is an old timber cutting village, nothing there anymore as it was all chopped out in about 1903. In recent times there has been bauxite mining in the new growth hardwood forest, followed by rehabilitation and more re-growth. Then last February there was a massive fire that burnt out large sections of the re-growth forest as well as a nearby small town. The walk was about 15 km.

# 3 Small native wild orchids on forest floor are thriving in the spring.


# 4 Strong winds and fire have wiped out a lot of guys like this.


#5 Bauxite conveyor from Willowdale Mine to Wagerup Refinery, about 18 km.

All have good sharply focused foregrounds nicely merging into the distance.

Maybe I would try toning down/cloning out a few bits of the brighter background with the flower scene.

Very nice images. I enjoyed the group walking the trail ant the uprooted tree is impressive!
