    AVCHD or MP4

Hi - a video question...should i select AVCHD on my camera for better quality even though I will have to convert later to MP4 to upload to Youtube? Thanks.

I would record and edit in the best quality your camera is capable of. You can always downsample later on, but once the scene is recorded in lower quality, you can never get that back to a higher quality video.

I agree with Manfred. I record video or shoot stills in the highest quality available to my camera. Memory is relatively inexpensive these days. The only problem "might be" if your computer cannot handle editing the higher resolution video.

The AVCHD Codec has been around for quite some time and is found on quite a number of Sony and Panasonic cameras. I have been editing it for a number of years (over 6 years, in fact) and until recently, using a 5-year old computer. This is plain vanilla HD, not one of the newer 4K formats and is not particularly computer resource intensive.
