    Shooting Surf

Took a wander down to Marsden Beach this morning to get some shots of the surf which I guessed would be nice and white against the otherwise manky dull day. There was some detail in the sky but the light was very flat so switched the Fuji to monochrome, bunged my Samyang 12mm on and went for some long exposures with the 10 stopper.

Good series of photos. I like the long exposures and you did it well. Three for me.

These are all very nice shots, but I wonder why, when the surf is up, you choose to suppress it with a Stopper?

I take shots down this beach three, four, five times a week so I like to try different things to keep my interest up. It was a dull manky day so I wondered if the smooth, white surf would look good against the duller sky and the back rocks.

Nice shots... I was hoping that you had not been shooting the surf swell resulting from the hurricane hitting the Florida East Coast...

Nothing like that over here thankfully. We've had (typical for us) high winds the last few days which whip up the surf enough to give the surfers something to jump off and give us photographers something to experiment with. One end of the beach is covered in foam (like the last shot) while the other end is covered a foot deep in torn up seaweed.
