    This is Aladdin...

He is a gorgeous Havanese puppy about six months old who absolutely loves people. He was surrendered by a single mom who had 3 very active children and who could no longer care for him. We gave him his second puppy shot and he is at the vet this morning for neuter and rabies shot. We will bring him to our groomer later in the week for a light trim and he will be ready for a big adoption event we have scheduled for this weekend...

    This is Aladdin...

Great thing about Aladdin is that he loves all people and is wonderful with kids. On the down side, he received absolutely no training from his previous family and needs some obedience training and a lot of house training. Aladdin is one of those dogs that we want an experienced dog person to adopt. We don't want to set up this darling dog for another failure.

That is the difference between adoption from a shelter and adopting from a responsible rescue group. We get to know the dog in a home environment because all our dogs are in foster homes and we can help customize the adoption so that the dog fits in with the adoptive family...

NOTE: That is not "red eye" in the image. His eyes are a very reddish light brown...

Richard, lucky you and luckier Aladdin. He is after falling into a very good home where he will be loved to pieces.

What a beautiful animal Richard. I doubt that you will have a problem finding a new home for him.

Richard, it looks like you are bringing magic into Aladdin's life and I'm sure he will pass it on to someone else.
    Great looking dog.

Thanks folks. Aladdin is going to the groomer this morning. My wife is going with him. We don't want a lot of his beautiful coat to be sheared off, just a slight trim. I will post a shot or two when he gets home.

His name reminded me of this sign that I shot in Istanbul...

    Aladdin after grooming...

The rescue event we are attending this Saturday has a Halloween motif. That is why Aladdin is wearing the Halloween bow tie and collar in these images...

Maybe you should just bathe and groomed him and not given him a haircut because I like his coat better originally. But then, it will grow again.

What an inspiring story, Richard. Very cute dog. What a kind and generous spirit you must have. The world needs more of you.
Rene Descartes said animals are mere automatons and do not feel pain, suffering and loss as humans do. I couldn't agree less and have always thought of my dog as a kind of doggy person with a different face. Thanks for sharing this.
    Kind regards,
    Pete

Thank you! My dogs are my best friends... There's nothing like coming home to a houseful of dogs who want to greet me. I cannot imagine coming home to an empty house, unless I am bringing a couple of dogs home with me!

He looks like he is asking how long he must suffer this indignity.
