    Square Rainbows?

Sorry about the cryptic clue in the title. Just trying square crop on a few shots of Rainbow Lorikeets from this morning.

Employed HSS flash at low (1/32) power, shot at 1/500 to lower the BG impact and to capture/freeze motion.

    1/500, f/3.2

    1/500, f/3.5

    Square Rainbows?

All shot with Canon 7DMkii amd Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8

    CC always welcome.

Excellent set of shots Chris, thoughtfully set up. A bit more DoF to bring the whole bird into focus would have been worthwhile but nicely done.

Very pretty birdies Chris...I like the composition in all of them...I cannot fault any of them. And don't be sorry about the title -- you really did caught my attention on that so I opened your post.

Thanks John. Yes, I agree re the DoF. Closing the aperture down a bit would also help to lower the background exposure. I'll be experimenting again tomorrow, don't want the bg to become too focussed though. This is my first time using HSS flash, it seems to be a lot easier/simpler to balance ambient light with the flash.

    Thanks again.

I had been away for a while, thanks for noticing, because it was around the time of our annual medical exams and one of them had us running scared awhile then our wedding anniversary came up and I had surprised hubby with a cruise to celebrate it, then I didn't want to go home because I was scared of facing up to my operation. All is well now so I am back for a good while yet. Life -- always gets in the way of one's passion, in our case, photography. I had not really touched my camera since after the cruise and the operation but I am prepping my studio...will get to it soon...

Anyway. keep up with your photography...as a fellow Aussie, I am one of your followers.
