Re: Dull weather photography
Cool! Love #1.
I see a rainbow in #4! One little detail - to my eyes, the foreground looks a bit over saturated (rather yellow green, and the table wood looks it too). It could be my computer?

Re: Dull weather photography
Thanks for your comments. Marie, maybe I pushed the a tad too far....but unusually for autumn, the grasses and mosses in this part of Britain are very yellow green, rather than brown green and I wanted the 4th image to show this.

Re: Dull weather photography
With the last one, I think I would try a little bit of selective darkening on the sky. That, I suspect, would counter the foreground brightness and create a better balance.
With the first image you have focused on the far distance at the end of the tunnel which has created quite a bit of soft foreground. I would have preferred it the other way around.
The other two look fine to me.

Re: Dull weather photography
My turn --
#1, crop the top off down to the yellow leaves bit. Click and move your image to gauge how much needed to be removed there.
#2 looks good but I can't see a way to make it nicer
#3 Love the movement there
and #4 I understand what you mean but the green of the grass sort of reflects a bit on the picnic table...

Re: Dull weather photography
Looking at each image "as is", number 2 is by far my favourite - crisp, colourful, added interest from the water droplets. If we look at them for potential, then number 1 is the winner, but, as others have remarked, its ability to draw you into the scene is let down somewhat by the foreground sharpness issues.
Overall though, nice set that I enjoyed looking at.

Re: Dull weather photography
Nice series, nice area well captured Kay. We were staying at the Pheasant down the road from the dam recently when we received the message that the house had been broken into. I'd gone with the hope of spotting some wildlife, particularly an Osprey sighting or two, but it was all cut short. I guess the Ospreys will be winging it to North Africa by now.

Re: Dull weather photography
These are all great, but I do like #1 and #2 best. I agree about the focussing in #1, but I would not crop it.

Re: Dull weather photography
Thanks all for your thoughts and input - I will look at these again and learn more.
John, I hope all is OK at home and that you do get back to visit Kielder - it is wonderful. So wonderful we are wandering back that way tomorrow, having had a few days on the coast. But yes, the ospreys are long gone, you'll have to wait until March for them to be back.
