Nice parallels of angles there Chris
My only (minor) criticism is that I find the vertical black object* on left hand side of frame rather a distraction.
* Not sure if that's a post, tree trunk or even another bird (shrugging it's shoulders?)

I left it because it carried the balance over to the left a bit more. I'll try knocking it down in half and see if that works.

A nice pose, but the beak looks slightly out of focus. is this some sort of Cormorant?

Not "Bard" at all but never the less, I now know what the phrase poetic imagery means. Nicely captured. I would lose that stump om the left though.
