Flat Track M/C Racing and Horse Shows

Its been a while since I have been on here. I have been working hard at improving my photography since I posted last. I have also invested in some new equipment, starting with a Canon 80D which I am very happy with! I have gotten in with a couple groups and have been able to get to a number of different events to spend hours of taking shots. Here are a couple from some flat track m/c racing and some from some horse shows. Been trying to get better at using the sun to my advantage and taking my time with motion shots and working on exposure and focus. Still lots to learn and ways to improve but having a blast!

Very nice group of shots. Number one is super. Did you get showered with the clods of dirt?

Great action shots. You definitely captured the moment and atmosphere in first three.

    Welcome back Debra,

Great series, the hard work you've been putting in certainly shows.

You seem to have consistently good:
    Exposure
    Focus
    Depth of Field
    Timing of shots
    Shutter speed
    Backgrounds

    The only thing that I would do differently is the composition on several;
#1 good composition, but could be rotated slightly to make the red posts vertical, this would actually give more 'lean' to the bikes (love the sharp flying dirt)
#2 ideally I would've framed this shot a little higher, but since that's too late now, I might crop some off the foreground in PP
#3 ideally this needs less space on left and more space on right, it could be cropped and the canvas extended on right in PP
#4 I'd like to have got the legs in
#5 I'd rotate this clockwise a bit (excellent take off timing)
#6 This is fine, no practical suggestions

I hope those thoughts help you develop further and bear in mind I'm not saying I would necessarily do any better than you have, just what (I think) might ideally make 'em better (with the benefit of hindsight).

    All the best, Dave

Thank you for the feedback! It does help! I have noticed I get a little crooked on some of my shots mostly because I get in a hurry. I need to watch that better, that and more centered and full frame. Got a dressage event coming up on the 30th so will work in this.
