Congrats Jim,
I find it almost impossible (lack of practice) to spot compositions like this that work, being too preoccupied by the apparent lack of content to form a valid composition.
However, you saw the stones, tide rippled sand, wind rippled water, still water (and sky reflection), the wet and dry sands beyond, all the way out to the sea - and shot with an angle of view, location (inc. camera height) and exposure - that brought them all together.
