Lovely shot! As far as I understand, Atlantic salmon survive after they spawn while Pacific salmon (the only ones I have been around), die after they spawn.
Well done.
I'd say definitely not. Trying to photograph leaping salmon is the most difficult thing I've ever tried and I only ended up with one shot that I thought was worth anything. You tend to end up with a lot of water-with-nothing else and/or bits of salmon going out of frame. They are moving amazingly fast as they leap.
So, on that basis, well done, Bernard. A cracking image.
Great timing. Good shot!
Thanks All for views and comments, bang on Donald, two half decent out of lots of shots, heads, tails, water, felt myself getting mesmorised watching water thundering down, had to step away several times as viewing from very close to falls....
All fantastic shot and a very fast finger. Well done.
Fantastic capture!
Maurice,Joe,thanks for views and comments, very much appreciated....
'Wish I was there somewhere...You are having waaaayyyy too much fun! Were you able to catch any for your lunch? Just asking...
Izzie, freezer full, how long can you keep them in freezer?
A rejoicing salmon!!! classic images
Benjy, you are lucky to be there catching them really fresh. I have to buy ours at an Asian wet market an hour drive away from where we live. Fresh salmon keeps in the fridge between 1-2 days and properly stored (I vacuumed pack mine), it will last at least 6 months. Mine last less than two months even if I vacuum pack them as we eat a lot of fish and shellfish here at home.
Izzie,6 months in freezer? I put 6 in freezer on Tuesday, they were dead next day????
