    "A" is for Artichoke -- Take 2

Yesterday I made this black-and-white photo of an artichoke. The photo shown below is the same artichoke.

    Setup
The background and tabletop are a single sheet of translucent diffusion material. The main light is a pair of flash lights side by side just barely out of the frame lighting the artichoke's point and upper leaves. A medium continuous-light lamp on the left side and a small continuous-light lamp on the right side, both fitted with diffusion material to reduce the brightness and create softer shadows, added light to their respective sides of the artichoke and background.

The artichoke is almost at the closest focusing distance of the lens. Though the left and right sides are cropped to make the square format, neither the top nor bottom is cropped.

Nicely done, less recognizable in this version which is what makes it work.

That's my thinking as well. I don't know that I would recognize it as an artichoke if I didn't know that's what it is.

It certainly translates better in Photoshop though your dark's are still a bit too dark...to me, it was unmistakably an artichoke, no not at all appetizing :-)

I don't understand why it would look different in Photoshop than when using your browser to view it on the web unless a setting in Photoshop, such as a color space, is making a change or unless the background color of Photoshop is sufficiently different from CiC's background to cause an optical illusion.
