    This year's Sandhill Crane shot

Set out this past weekend, under grey skies and light drizzle. Sandhill Cranes were coming off the roosting ponds and heading into neighboring fields when I arrived at Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge.

I increased the White slider and adjusted the WB to get a near white background. Now if I can just catch them with a sunrise as background, I will be a happy camper!

Very nice, wasn't there a "two birds in one shot" thread on this forum?

Nice one, Randy. Must be nice to be where they hang around for a spell. Here we just get them passing through.

They do make this time of year, when the leaves have dropped and the temps are making a plunge, more tolerable

That's such a great pic! I can't think of any background that would add to it.

Well, that just wonderful. Love the white background. Look forward to the sunrise shot.

We'll see, forecast sounds pretty nice.....not at all November-like, more like September

Very pretty shots but you are still complaining? Don't you have anything better to do but annoy the heck of me by complaining? I can hear you to here, mister! just get a sunrise shot and put it behind the birds. Anyway, there are some backlighting on the feathers there so the scenario you are thinking might be possible...shoot some more.

Great capture, not easy to catch birds in flight. You did very well.

This seems to be one of those situations where in-flight shots come easy, when on the ground they are very skittish and hard to get close enough to get a cracking shot.

hahahaha... lazybones!!! 'Flying to Nevada middle of this month to get some airplane parts then rent a u-haul to stop at some photographic places. I might get to see some birds to photograph along the way to show you. It has been a long time since I shot one of those (with my camera that is...)

Nicely done Randy. I love the first and I agree, the lack of BG texture doesn't detract at all from these.
