    Two More From the Junkyard

Windwing (for those of you under 60-ish these were standard on almost all American cars. They were small windows that could be opened to allow smoke to exit, especially in the rain without wetting the whole car or to open all the way and direct a stream of air onto the driver and passenger prior to standardized AC.)

The second one would be magical for me if about an 8 x 10 vertical crop was used that included all of the bottom area of the image to exclude the bright area of the hood and the windshield.

Flow thru ventilation killed the windwing, not standardized A/C. Most base model cars didn't come with A/C. All of the models had flow thru ventilation though.

Good shot of some very vintage rust.

I tried that crop, Mike but felt it lost it's identity as a truck. I can tone the bright down a bit more. I printed this on metallic paper this morning and it looks really nice.

I love junkyards. There is a junkyard in the Twin Cities that has the jalopy from Beverly Hillbillies, the water tower from Petticoat Junction and the SS Minnow from Gilligan's Island. I need to do a road trip there.

OT but not long after immigrating into the USA, I went to a big auto show in Houston - and there on display was the "Gener'l Lee" from the 'Dukes of Hazzard'. "Oh, wow!" I go but was somewhat saddened to learn that it was only one of about nine of them - that had survived being totalled by "them Dook boys".

We called them "quarter lights" over here IIRC.

I'd have thought another advantage for smokers was that it served as an ideal ash-tray while on the move.

    Good compositions Doug.

    Cheers, Dave
