Tunnel of Love

This image is for those of you who like useless information.....

The domed building is on the North East Coast of Britain, in Whitley Bay however it's name is the Spanish City. It was called this because in the late Victorian Period Spanish Torreadors used to come to the area and perform.

But why the Tunnel of Love ? Well within the Spanish City were rides and rollercoasters - one was known as The Tunnel Of Love. Mark Knopfler made it famous with his song of that title - if you're inclined, go listen to it - it is all about this building and area. Before it closed a few years ago - the track was played constantly in the building

Sadly as you can see the building is a little the worse for wear, but happily in the process of being restored, hence the close up is only of the roof - the bottom of the building is surrounded by constructors' fences.

Interesting story Kaye and with illustration. Interesting because I was unaware. Interesting because I would love to know why/how someone came up with the idea of bringing Spanish Toreadors to the North East of England particularly at time when you couldn't just hop on an Easy Jet flight to get there. Must have been quite compelling in more ways than one.

The problem as I see it is that ANYONE English, Irish, Scots, Welsh or whatever was allowed to vote in Scotland but none of the above was given a vote elsewhere! If they had, you'd be independent now.......

#1 is rather flatly lit, probably worth a contrast boost and Clarity

#2 looks to have suffered a lot of flare - is the lens clean? I appreciate you were shooting in to the light
