Re: Still trying to find my urban eye
You have so many categories to experiment with: people , buildings , journalism . urban parks capture the cultural aspects etc... have fun in finding your enjoyment . Look at pics under Street Photography in Flickr and get some ideas. I like the bridge pics , well composed and solid PP.

Nice series, you shouldn't force yourself; if it doesn't click within you....

Re: Still trying to find my urban eye
Thanks everyone. I'm not sold on the WB yet. The first, I think I could brighten a bit more. The first three seem to be pulling a bit too much on the magenta side. I tried to do a slight correction with the shot of my gal. She liked that best out of three WB settings, but I think her skin is just a tad on the green side.
While this iconic landmark was an easy point of interest to shoot, my main goal with respect to urban settings is just to find a way to keep shooting. If I can find something that interests me locally, I will shoot more. I already know I have little desire for street photography.

In the second shot the bridge tower appears to be supported by the large foreground rock.

Jim, those are nice shots. Even this Wyoming boy enjoys San Francisco. Great city.

Re: Still trying to find my urban eye
Thank you gentlemen. It was a fun time spending the day there. We took Bart from Oakland to the city, then a bus to 25th street, then hiked about 10 miles along the coast and through China Town back to Bart station. We like to walk. BTW, here's the original of the first shot. You can see why I opted for a bit of cloning.

Re: Still trying to find my urban eye
Hi Jim,
I hear ya. Street photography intimidates me. It is a personal challenge I need to face. Getting out of our comfort is so important if we want to capture our subject in different settings.
Good on you, keep at it. This is inspirational.
