    Marina 2

    Taken during a very windy day, had a monopod but the wind was strong enough to move my body.

    f/7.1, ISO 100, 1/200sec.

    My! your monopod casts an interesting, not to say large, shadow John

    Interesting water feature on the left, looks like there should be a gap in the river bank to let the water out (with the curved bridge right there).

    Altweibersommer is also a cracker of a shot, great timing with the dog walker and the sun's rays and the curvature of the street helps the composition, taking the eyes around in circles. The only pedantic comment I might raise is the lean and curvature of the horizon, but it is possible that correcting that might do significant harm to the framing and composition, if you said you had considered correcting, but decided against, I would understand.

    Hi Dave,

    The monopod is a wondrous device , actually that shadow is where I was shooting from; the wind below was moderate but at a height of about 85 feet I felt like paper in the wind.

    Regarding the images: there is a fountain that keeps the pool filled and I suspect there is some outlet to prevent too much algae growth. For the second image altweibersommer, it too was difficult to physically capture with the wind and angle I had to position the monopod; I had to brace it against a wall and shoot at an even sharper angle. I did do some leveling but as with some shots the more you straighten natural lines; the more other elements become distorted. Thanks for commenting.

    Hi John,

    That's a nice scene, although there are two issues I'd tackle if mine;
    a) there seems to be a lens flare along the bank just where the last two white fence posts are, might be possible to locally adjust the levels to reduce that, or perhaps easier to just clone over the relevant areas with some adjacent image detail.
    b) there are a few sharply defined specular highlights in lower left corner which keep attracting my eye away from the scene, I'd probably clone these out.

    I like it John However , having some more space at the top and cropping the image from the bottom to eliminate the burnt out reflections of the lighthouse and ( to put the water to 1/3 of the frame) would also make a nice image.
