Looks like it was worth the hard work. Good image.
Nice image.
You were too tired to walk up the last stones?
Jean, how did you know? I have peak bagging friends who are just aghast that I don't care whether or not I touch the top. You can't see it here, but Mitchell Peak is another 50' or so higher and out of the picture. We decided that lunch right where we were sounded a lot better than assaulting the peak.
Last year, in the desert, we were climbing a peak and one of the ladies was using her cell phone compass to try and find the "right" peak. I told her "any peak will do". She looked at me like I grew another head and said, "you really are a backpacker!". This year, we have agreed, I'll climb the "right" peak and she'll bring the "right" compass.
Maybe it will help to number each image submitted if there are more than one of them. You and your friends have quite strong legs and joints to be able to climb and photograph such beauties. Take good care of them knees -- they surely lead you to beautiful places up there. I am wondering...one of your shots have some purple-ish tinge. I do not want tot scroll up now but I think it is the first of the second series. Is the colour that natural? Just curious...
Numbered. Yes, I see the purple issue in #2. I'll have to rework that image. Thank you Izzie. I had to give up Hapkido because my knees were beginning to give me problems. I couldn't continue knowing it would only get worse if I didn't make some changes. It was a tough decision, but I still have a number of years to go and a lot of places to see with these knees and what I was learning in martial arts, IMHO, was not very useful and extremely tough on 55 year old knees.
The purplish issue is present on both #1 and #2 Jim, (thanks for adding the numbers btw)
It is lateral CA which has not been corrected during PP for some reason.
#4 looks OK, #3 doesn't really have any image content to make a valid judgement.
HTH, Dave
Hi Dave,
Yes, since you have noticed it in several of my shots, I have tried to make it a habit to check for CA as a routine. Unfortunately, I forget to check my older shots and go back to correct. I'll have to make that a project.
I really like the clouds in the first shot Jim.
They are all lovely images and I am full or admiration (and jealousy) that you can get away up there and see those places that few of us will ever see.
But despite our love for the great vistas and wide spaces, it is this that I think is the most beautiful of images. Simply gorgeous.
Thank you Alan and Donald.
