    S.A. Zoo

I had an opportunity a few weeks back to pay a visit to the San Antonio Zoo. I thought it was a good time to try out my seldom used Canon EF70-300mm on my 5D3. I realize this is not true wildlife photography, probably more akin to shooting fish in a barrel, but I had fun and I got to exercise different photographic muscles. These are some of the ones I liked the best. YMMV.

What appeared to be an affectionate moment between two Francois Langur monkeys. Perhaps one was just grabbing a flea off the other, but if my wife was picking a flea off me, I would consider that a sign of affection.

Nice series, it still takes some effort to get a reasonable looking shot without revealing most of the habitats.

Nice compositions and interesting, sharp subjects - those muscles served you well Sergio.

Wild or not, great images, very sharp and better detail.

John, thank you. I did crop out extraneous areas of habitat. During capture I also tried to position myself in such a way as to have as much of a non-zoo-like background as possible.

Dave, thank you. I don't know how often I will flex this muscle since street photography is my passion, but I appreciate the positive encouragement.

Maurice, thank you. I have trouble with sharpening since my personal taste is not to like things very sharp. Maybe it's all those years of cutting myself on sharp objects.

John, thank you. The Coua was one of the prettiest birds within my range to capture. I'm glad I was able to.

I like #1 and your narrative of it...I think the right one was actually admiring the one on the left, you know, the pinching the cheek kind and saying "Oh how cute!!!"
#2 That cheetah looks so wild, hopefully not grumpy...
#3 The crested cua just saw a streaker going by!!!
Sorry for making jokes about the expressions. They are all very nicely composed especially the action of the cheetah, its body language... Good job you did there...

Perfect narrative for all three photos. Thank you, Izzie.
