AGO - North Shore - Lake Superior

John posted a number of images he took at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) during his visit to Toronto a few months ago. I was there a few days before him, so I thought I might go back and post a few of my images of the place.

We visited to see an exhibition on Lawren Harris, a founding member of Canada's influential artist group known as the "Group of Seven". This is a shot of some visitors viewing and taking pictures of one of his best known pieces - "North Shore - Lake Superior".

Harris and other members of the Group of Seven, have influenced me as a landscape photographer, as I have traveled to Ontario's Algonquin Park, Algoma District and the north shore of Lake Superior based purely on my wanting to see what drew them to these places that they painted in the 1920s through to the early 1930s.

I just loved that place Manfred, as much as anything for the slice of life that you see as well as the exhibits. Just like in this image. I like it a lot.

Naturally, I have heard of "Street Photography" but is there a genre called "Museum Photography"?

I like Harris's work a lot. I spent a whole day in the National Gallery of Canada in 2002 when they had a large Group of Seven exhibition. After that visit I have always seen the sky in a different light.
