Love the color of the moon, I am going to try my luck tomorrow night. Shooting the moon is tricky, I shot it last year and had a few good looks.

This is a photo of the moon that I shot last year.
The settings were 1/100 sec, f13, ISO 100 tripod, exposure delay and timer. I am by no means an expert. I had read some where to keep your shutter speed as fast as you can due to the moons movement and your ISO as low as you can. Hope that helps.

    Mathew,

Remember that if you want to take this shot from the same location tomorrow the moons position will have moved and the time it will be at a similar height.

Apart from getting the exposure best for the moon your other options are, what you focus on, moon or houses (determining DoF) and whether to have the moon part obscured from the houses.

As you will now know the angle and hence time it appears behind the houses you could take a series. I'm just thinking out loud because I still trying to decide what to attempt, clouds being favourable

I really enjoy this image for its original mood of the night and the original colour of a rising moon; if those houses were not there the image would have been monotonous; congrats

You made me laugh...I can just imagine the sequence including the running around looking for the tripod...don't you just put it in one place? Anyway...good shots! I particularly like the one behind the houses...then the rising up just above the houses. I agree with Nandy there in his comments that if you did not have those houses, it would have been another shot of the moon.

Nice capture of the moon, would lift the shadows a bit of the structures.
