    Never heard of ImageJ before, but it certainly does the trick. Nice image.

    That looks better to me. More natural looking.

    I tried the Combine stacking a few years ago but couldn't get on with it. Everything seemed over sharpened with excessive contrast giving a very harsh effect. Maybe there are controls to adjust that effect but I never found anything which worked for me.

    First things first. I'm not stacking the usual way. Instead of multiple shots I'm using multiple versions of one shot each with their own processing.

    Secondly ImageJ was developed by and for scientists involved in research. It and it's big brother Fiji are so much more than merely an app for stacking. Translation.... it is complex but I believe that these programs will open up a new photographic universe for me once I know them.
