At the vegetable market - C&C are most welcome !!

Herewith I am sharing some pics which I have taken at the vegetable market, may be an year back. I think for the 1st time I tried photography in bulb light.

Thanks John for your comment. 3-dimensional quality to the exposures - Each stall has a separate light. some parts were quite dark and some were exposed nicely. So may be because of that ??

Thank you Marie. All the pics are taken with 18-55 lens and F/ is aprox 5, ISO varies from 2500 to 3200 and shutter speed varies from 1/25 to 30.

Processing is done in PS.

Good series Tejal,

I also think you've done a good job on the processing, I think this also contributes (significantly) to the three dimensional look.

I find it hard to suggest improvements that are helpful, I can see some minor issues, but also see why you have either not tackled them*, or have had to do it a certain way** - which works (so why change it).

* e.g. #1 could do with a ccw rotation, but doing so would compromise the composition, with that gentleman on the left becoming far too close to the edge of frame.

** e.g. #2 had an issue with a tube light in top right corner, which you have dealt with fairly well I think, only a pedant looking for trouble would spot it - cue for Dave

Good White Balance and (on the whole) natural looking colours with good exposures and compositions.

They succeed in giving me a feel for the place.

These are very nice images and remind me of some of the vegetable markets I have visited in India. It seems to be a lot brighter and more open than what I saw in Bangalore's Russel Market, as I struggled to get any usable images with the equipment I had along with me at the time.

The images look quite good given the mixed light conditions you were shooting under.

Yes, I have tried to tackle issues in reasonable manner as I have maintain the realistic appearance of the frame. That tube light, yes, it is looking patchy as I tried to reduce the highlight of it. It is bothering me . Is there any other way to handle such issues ?

A lot of my past attempts to deal with such lights sources look just like this, that's how I recognised it!

Unfortunately I haven't sufficient recent experience of dealing with such issues (for me, in PS CC) to be able to describe 'a better way'.

However, I think I'd try (in ACR or LR) a brush adjustment (applied just the the light itself) and move the Whites and/or Highlights sliders left a long way (e.g. -100 even) and fiddle with brush and feather widths so it didn't cause problems to immediately adjacent areas. I'd use Whites and/or Highlights in preference to the Exposure, since Exposure will also darken tones that aren't bright and so may cause issues with darker halos around the bright bit. The trick is to avoid it going kinda 'inverted'; e.g. the tube going grey and the immediately surrounding bit being brighter (as in #2), which can happen easily.
