    I find that there's a fairly predicable arc in my post processing when I learn a new technique. When I first started shooting camera raw a bit more than a year ago and discovered this clarity slider I fell in love with the "negative clarity effect" and wanted to use it all the time on all my shots. Then when I learned about sharpening and how to use USM and high pass filters I wanted to oversharpen everything. After awhile I seem to come to my senses and use more discretion with these techniques. Here's a photo I went to both extremes with. I still like the soft version though. I think it works with this particular image.
