    Nicely seen and captured, John. The only nit I see is that the fall off of the gradient filter is a bit harsh and particularly shows on the trunk of the FG tree. I likely only notice it because I've recently been shooting with a gradient filter and am a bit hyper-aware of the associated issues.

    Maybe somewhere between these two crops for the amount of foreground. I certainly prefer the first scene to the tight crop.

    I prefer the full size version but the cropped version has the advantage it eliminates the lighter foreground. I think darkening the area that has been cropped rather than cropping it may give the best result.

    That sky is a killer John. As I like to learn as well as look ;-) - can you explain why the foreground is brighter - someone mentioned a gradient filter?
