Salisbury Cathedral near Sunset
![Salisbury Cathedral near Sunset](http://i63.tinypic.com/afhdg5.jpg)
Taken late afternoon as the sun was setting. The Great West Door and Cathedral Spire look almost golden as the light diminishes.
Comments welcome.

Re: Salisbury Cathedral near Sunset
Lovely light Christopher and the fact that it is low side lighting, shows the architecture off well.

Re: Salisbury Cathedral near Sunset
The composition and colours, in particular the lovely yellow-blue contrast, are very attractive but, for me, the appeal of the image is marred by the distortion of the building.
Cheers.

Hi Philip
Thanks for your comments.
I use a Canon 24-105mm L lens, which on this occasioned gave considerable distortion. I had hoped I had corrected this with some work in Photoshop. Please let me know exactly which parts of the building you feel are still distorted.
Regards
Chris

Re: Salisbury Cathedral near Sunset
Hello Chris.
It is important to note that this is your image so, obviously, you process it to suit your own tastes. I can write only about what I would do to make it more appealing to me.
Regarding the apparent distortions: It seems to give me the impression that the cathedral is a little twisted, and also standing on ground that is sloping up to the right whereas it should be (more or less) flat. This effect could be corrected with a slight clockwise rotation (about 2.5 degrees). The image would then require some transformation adjustments to restore the realistic perspective of the scene.
Here is a quick and rough edit: firstly a bit extra was added at the top to retain the spire, but apologies for losing some of the sides and base during the process. (Let me know if you would prefer this image to be deleted.)

Re: Salisbury Cathedral near Sunset
The like the way the sun had shown on the building itself. Nicely seen.
