    Shots from my office

I took these from my office this morning with my point and shoot. I need to find a job where I don't get up so early.

The job description you wish is called "retired" -- kind of owning your own time.

Thanks for the good words. Nandakumar, my p&s is a Panasonic/Lumix DMC-ZS40. I bought it to take fishing but I carry it in my briefcase also. It takes pretty decent pictures. Actually I was up all night working and had just finished a couple of labor epidurals. I went to the office to kick my feet up, looked out the window and saw this.

A few weeks ago I could not find a Fujifilm 400 mm lens to rent for the "super moon" but I was able to get this with a point & shoot and some cropping. Go figure.

Izzie, the description of the job I want is actually called "quitting" which I will do in two years just past my 64th b-day. For me the term, "retire" means you have to wait until age 65, take up square dancing and bingo. Actually I still enjoy my work and having the Minnesota house sold I am always 90 days from quitting. It takes longer to recover from mental exhaustion than it takes to recover from physical exhaustion. Fortunately our group has a good system to allow for it.

Careful what you wish for. THAT job may not allow time to stare out the window. Much less shoot the moon

"Quitting" is a hard word like "hate" or "hating"...retiring has a certain ring to it that I am still alive....quitting, means death. I still want to accomplish so much before "quiting".

How does "calling it a day" sound? To me the term retirement means getting forced out because of declining skills or poor health. I want to go out when I'm still at the top of my game. I hope that when I leave I still feel like I can work at the current pace for a few more years.

Don't worry...you will....I use to know a man who lived to be nearly a hundred and can still cut a tree in his backyard without help. When I asked him what his secret was in living so long with a good body and healthy mind, he said he eats rice everyday. True story...he was my grandfather.

...with retiring remember you can have selective hearing so you can chill out when you need/want to; not worry about the time of day or night; be proud of your wrinkles and call it "experiences" and "memories", live in your own little world when you want to and enjoy the company of others and know who your enemies are and who really loves you, etc. and that yellow moon you can call it cheese if you want or moon if you like, it is up to you, if you call it "a day" the moon will no longer be yellow...it will be queso blanko.

Hey! really like that yellow moon, go shoot a night scene and put that moon in the background so it will look so much better. Call it astro landscape...I hope I made you smile today...I am going back to my cave -- it is 4am here...

Rice!! And I thought it was clean living (no booze or cigarettes) that got one to 100 years of age. My grandparents did not live that long. They died when I was young and did not speak much English so as a little kid I didn't get to know them well. But I know they didn't eat rice. Maybe it was the borscht that did them in.
