WOW.... can you fade out the background brightness, some?
Beautiful capture of the fungus detail, but the background is a bit distracting. So annoying when things get lost. Any chance of a re-shoot?
Thanks Nandakumar, I could, but then you lose the reason you see through the gills and caps so it would look false to me.
Cheers Dave, not really - they go over pretty quickly
Beautiful backlighting, but I agree about the background. I tried selecting it and darkening it, and while that helped, the blown-out white spots remain distracting.
Nice colors, I can see the concerns with the backlights and it can be a troublesome fix however if you mask the warm areas you can work strictly on the lights.
I love the potential of this image. I also tried a variety of ways to tone down the background but none seemed to work. Then it occurred to me to clone in more of the green leaves. It seemed to provide a possible path. Just a thought from someone who has been exploring Photoshop all year.
Love the light on fungus, I think it one of those images best left alone.
I love the backlit effect and agree with others about the BG issues. Also the lower part of the frame looks somewhat hazy. Maybe flare caused by shooting straight at the bright sky?
That's a shame... Are you sure you reformatted your camera card? What is it? 32gig, 64 gig, bigger? Maybe format it less often? I use Macrium Reflect to backup my computer and this allows me to restore anything from an entire drive to any file/folder on any drive. Quite useful
And maybe this detracts a little fron the high-white in the background? Nowhere near perfect but .....

Thank you all, personally I find the background more distracting/intrusive in those versions and the range of tonality of the fungi is lost and has suffered a colour shift - its no big deal, I will find another clump next year and shoot a similar shot, its a natural history shot of a 'common' fungi so I am not going to play with it to any discernable level. If I decide to do anything with it to use it elswhere - would probably be along these lines
Mark there are programs available that will recover deleted files even after formatting providing youv'e not over written them.. I use Don't Panic but it will only recover jpegs however better than nothing

Roy, yep first thing I tried, two top rated programes, one windows and one DOS command line. The FAT was corrupt and any files brought back were not able to be opened, long gone days I could boot to command line and overwrite the FAT table on that disc with the backup table that most dont even know exists, trust me, they are gone !
Your cropped version looks better Mark, I like the backlit fungi
Thank you Binnur, appreciated.
