Nicely composed and executed image. There's just a nip of another bloom annoying the left edge of the frame. Overall nicely done.
beautiful
Excellent image Alan.
I meant to mention the white mark, a third of the way up on the LH side could be cloned out.
What a beauty
Beautiful image and present, a joy to behold.
Man, nothing gets by you guys. I knew when I saw that piece of white on the left edge that it'd get some comments. I missed it by just that much when cropping the shot. Dang!
I'm pretty proud of the way it turned out. This is pretty much SOOC except for the cropping.
I'm going to be taking more shots of it this afternoon after I have some lunch. I've got a whole bunch of lenses that need some exercise and it's a more than willing subject.
Thanks for the comments!
Very nicely composed, and a beautiful image.
Since you are open to suggestions, I have a few:
-- In addition to the white on the left side, there is a tiny white spot on the right near the top.
-- It would also pop more if you selected the background and turned it pure black. It's very slightly brighter than that now. You may prefer it this way; it's a matter of taste.
-- the pale violet shows up more if you pull down the midtones a bit--for example, with a levels tool.
But these are minor. It's a great image.
Dan - I really don't have the software, nor the skills to use it if I did, to do that kind of edit. The white spot you speak of on the right is there because of the crop. I wanted to leave the petal behind the stem fully intact when I cropped the side.
Thanks for the suggestions though.
Guess I'll have to start a savings plan for some more sophisticated software now.
You don't need expensive software. I use Adobe CC, which costs me $120/year, but there are both cheaper and free substitutes that a number of people on the forum use, and they can give you advice about them.
Editing is intimidating--at least, I found it to be intimidating at first--because there seems to be no end to the things you can do. However, the basics aren't all that complicated, and the edits I tried on this weren't complicated. It helps to find either people who can help you or good tutorials. The payoff can be huge.
