You have come up with an interesting approach to the "gobo", i.e. a cutout pattern that goes between the light source and the subject. These are typically used to light up the background, as you have done in some of your shots, but less often as a primary light source that falls on the subject itself.
I have played around with these in a studio setting, but find that I rarely bother when shooting in the settings I tend to work in. In your shots, some uses are far more effective than others.
