I think another candidate for focus stacking Brian Although you have a nice subject a lot of blur around.

Actually I did do some stacking in this shot. Until I get the new gear I'm lucky to get 2 out of 10 shots lined up

    Brian,

    A question for you.

Do you have a standard sharpening procedure?

Ok, what I'm getting at. For every image I take with my macro lens (and other favourites) I apply a sequence of 'sharpening' procedures at different stages off PP down to the final image for posting.

The settings/figures are the same for just about 95% of my images and will only vary with additional sharpening levels to compensate for poor procedure (an image I took, with some movement but I really really want to save it) or to locally emphasize a specific area.

The stages of sharpening I refer to can be, capture sharpening, content/creative sharpening and finally output sharpening.

I'm not particularly looking for a debate on sharpening methods (there are many) but if you follow a system?

    I'm developing one.

In pp I crop and rotate for composition. Then a bit of over all sharpening, colour balance and grain.

Then I decide on how many layers of sharpening I need. Each layer is done on a separate clone.

Once I get them done I put them into ImageJ / Figi for stacking.

Then into Gimp or Capture 1 for final scaling, sharpening....
